Our competition uses coal-fired kilns or furnaces to heat the clay to 1,200 degrees to create their product. Our material is natural occurring Scoria Amorphous Silica and was created thousands of years ago.  No energy is needed to create our product   other than normal crushing and screening operations.

REDFIELD BRAND

Redfield™ is NEW  to the infield but has been on warning tracks for years.  Our product is rounder than Calcined Clay which makes it better for sliding.  It takes a fraction of the energy to produce which is better for the environment.

LavaLite by LAVATECH has the lowest carbon footprint of any Bio-Filter Media on the

market. While other Bio-Filter Media use kilns and furnaces to melt their material

at 2,000 degrees to create their product. LavaLite is a naturally accurring, scoria

amorphous silica, that was formed thousands of years ago. According to the ECSI

Association’s Life Cycle Report released in 2015, the standard lightweight aggregate

manufacturing process produces as much as 350 lbs of CO2 emissions per ton.

Alternatively, LavaLite’s manufacturing process produces only 9.60 lbs of CO2

emissions per ton, over 36 TIMES LESS!

Lava Lite by Lava Tech has been used in Bio-Filter media applications for two decades, all across the United States.  An all-natural, Low Carbon, American made product, the Lava Lite is the perfect media source for any Bio-Scrubber/Bio-Filter project. Our product has the porosity, surface area, and chemical make-up to establish and promote the growth of essential microorganisms that make Bio-Filters successful. Lava Lite can be used in low pH sulfuric applications. Our first project using Lava Lite goes back to 2007. From 2022-2025

alone, Lava Lite has been used in several Bio-Filter projects that totaled to over 7 million pounds of media installed. Lava Lite is lighter than its competitors at only 40LBS/CF on average, and more durable with a 99 Durability Index rating. The Lava Lite surface area is approximately 6,800 square feet per cubic foot. The media is screened and graded to a

spec of 3/4” – 2”.
